Silicon Chip October 2008
The October Issue of Silicon Chip, includes a look at the new CleverScope CS328A USB Dual Channel Oscilliscope, this neat little unit plugs directly into your PC for viewing and recording of the various data inputs. The unit is suitable for both Analog and Digital Signals with an optional signal generator for testing audio equipment. Also this month using a PICAXE with a RF Transceiver unit for easy transmitting and receiving of data. This month also looks at using a extensively modified microwave oven for a UV exposure box for developing photo-sensitive PC boards.
This month’s projects include a USB Clock with digital readout, this interesting project synchronizes the time by computer and internet, providing a very accurate time clock. The unit can be set-up and controlled by the computer and will also operate stand-alone with the computer disconnected. Optional backlighting is available, together with a dimming function for reducing power drain. Also this month an attractive new design for a Digital RF Level and Power Meter, this unit is ideal for measuring small radio signals and provides an accurate digital LCD readout. Suitable for measuring signals from 50kHz up to 500MHz. This month also features a special function timer with external triggering for event timing. The unit is easily adjustable and provides relay output, making the unit ideal for controlling mains appliances. The second part of the new Railpower Model Train Controller is also included in this issue, including the construction details and programming the unit. All projects come complete with circuit diagram and electronic parts list.
