Silicon Chip March 2014
Now in store the March issue of Silicon Chip Electronics Magazine. This month build a remote monitoring
system using an Arduino board and a GSM module. This useful monitoring unit, monitors five analog
inputs and five digital inputs. The unit can send an SMS on a predefined alert condition.
The unit is easy to build and utilizes readily available modules, only a small amount of
assembly is required. This monitoring station is ideal for use with home burglar alarms, remote
wind/solar systems, isolated pumping stations and much more. Also this month, build a Burp Charger
for NiMH and Nicad batteries, this charging method is a more efficient way to charge these batteries and
ensure a longer life for you batteries. The unit is loaded with features and is housed in a
sturdy case, the unit also provides top-up and trickle charging.
All projects come complete with circuit diagram and electronic parts list.
This month's features include an look back at the beginnings of digital cameras and how far they have now developed. Also in this month's features a look at some of the Retro Radios now available, they have the look at feel of old classic radio units, but are loaded with advanced digital radios for receiving AM/FM and new Digital Radio. Plus all the regular columns, including the Circuit Notebook, Serviceman's Log and Vintage Radio are included, providing stacks of great reading.
