Now in stock, the June issue of Silicon Chip Magazine. In this month's issue build a 100dB Stereo LED Audio Level/VU Meter. This unit is much more than your standard LED Audio Level Display, the unit uses 80 high-brightness SMD LED's to give a large and colourful display which shows both the average audio signal level plus the peak levels. The unit has a number of selectable display modes, for displaying peak+average, average only, peak only or VU style. The meter range is also selectable between 40dB to 100dB, together with an adjustable brightness control. The unit is a terrific addition to an audio system, providing an attractive, easy to read display.

Also this month, build a Hotel Safe Alarm for travellers. This compact unit sits inside your hotel safe and will give a large, audible alarm if the safe is opened. The unit has an adjustable entry delay timer, as we as an adjustable alarm period. The unit will also gives a visual indication, if the safe has been opened while you were away. This month, also build an Arduino Cooler System Monitor for a laser cutter, based on a small Arduino board, this unit monitors the speed of the fans, the water flow and temperature inside the cutter and gives an attractive visual display of the temperature and also sounds an alarm in the case of a malfunction. All projects come complete with circuit diagram and electronic parts list.

In this month’s articles, a look at the new portable small nuclear reactors being developed. These units offer a transportable power source of up to 25MWe, that can easily be used in remote or isolated areas. Also this month, an interesting article on repairing an old HP ProBook, is it worth repairing or scrapping? This article looks at the work involved and the end results.
