Silicon Chip June 2008
The June Issue of Silicon Chip, includes a look at household electrical wiring and is it safe for you to do it yourself, we have a look at the standards and law in regard to this issue. Also this month Crash Test Dummies, how are they made and what sensors are fitted and how the data is recorded. An interesting inside into how the testing is performed.
This month’s projects include a DSP Musicolour unit, this new design incorporates many state of the art features, not available in previous designs. The unit accepts audio input signals and drives the coloured lights in tune with the music. Ideal for discos and light shows, the unit provides different lighting modes and is suitable for both 240VAC and 120VAC power systems. Also this month a versatile Flexitimer for switching loads according to different time intervals, the unit has programming ON and OFF times as well as continuous cycling options. Timing accuracy is quite high and the relay output is suitable for switching a wide variety of loads. Finally this month a useful power supply for external hard drives, great for cases when the USB port is not able to provide sufficient power. Plus a Balanced/Unbalanced Converter for Audio applications, this unit balances long signal runs to prevent hum and noise pick-up.
All projects come complete with circuit diagram and electronic parts list.
