Holtek's New Flash Microcontroller for Power Tools

A High Level of Integration Reduces the Number of External Components Required,

Holtek have released its new power tool flash microcontroller, the HT45F3630, which is especially designed for motor speed control products, such as electric drills, electric screwdrivers, lawn mowers and other related applications.

Holtek Releases a New Power Tool Flash Microcontroller

The HT45F3630 includes a group of PWM high voltage and high current output pins for directly driving power MOS transistors and reduce switching losses. In addition, the integrated over current protection and detection functions can amplify an input current sense signal by up to 51, therefore allowing lower sense resistor values to be used and thus providing higher efficiencies and longer operating times. When an over current event occurs, the PWM switching will be shut off by the hardware, to achieve immediate protection.

When compared with traditional solutions, the HT45F3630 reduces the need for external MOS driving circuitry resulting in fewer external components and lower production costs. Additionally, the over current protection function provides the hardware with a rapid operation protection function, to improve the product stability. With regard to packaging, the device is supplied in a 16-pin SSOP package type, meets with industrial specifications of -40°C to +85°C as well as having the advantage of high noise immunity. With these combined features and flexibility the device is well suited for a range of power tool speed controller applications as well as many other related products.
