New Micro-Power, High Operating Temperature Op-Amps

Particularly suited for automotive applications, these op-amps are designed for operating in harsh environments

STMicroelectronics has released a new micro-power operational amplifier with a 150°C operating temperature capability. Particularly suited for automotive applications, the new TSU111H op-amps are designed for operating in harsh environments together with minimal current consumption.

New 6MHz, Wide Operating Voltage and Low Noise Op Amps

Qualified to the AEC-Q100 specifications, with a temperature Grade 0 level, the devices can operate in temperatures from -40°C to +150°C. This is suited for use in braking systems, combustable engines exhaust systems and fuel-cell generators. The high maximum temperature of the TSU111H, enables the devices to be placed close to the sensors in extreme heat areas for optimum measurement accuracy.

When operating in normal temperature environments, the life span of the device is up to 3x longer than equivalent standard rated devices. The ST TSU111H can operate at 65°C for more than 25 years, whilst standard devices are designed for a typical life span of eight years. This is ideal in battery management systems for hybrid and electric vehicles, which are never turned off and are required to draw the least possible power to maximize battery life.

The typical supply current of the TSU111H is just 1.7µA, placing a minimal load on the vehicles management system. The output voltage is also exact to within 250µV ensuring a very high accuracy signal output. This is ideal for a vehicle's on board charger and monitoring system.

Features of the TSU111H High Accuracy Operational Amplifier include:

  • Low offset voltage: 250 µV max. at 25 °C
  • Micro ampere current consumption: ICC = 1.7 µA typ. at 25 °C
  • Low noise over 0.1 to 10 Hz bandwidth: 3.9 µVpp
  • Low Supply Voltage: 1.5V to 5.5V
  • Rail-to-rail input and output
  • Gain bandwidth product: 23 kHz typ.
  • Low input bias current: 1 pA max. at 25 °C
  • High tolerance to ESD: 4 kV HBM
  • High accuracy without calibration
  • Tolerance to power supply transient drops
